Welcome to the TNT Wars tutorial! If you're here, you'll want to learn about the basics of TNT Wars. Whilst we have an ingame version of the tutorial, which you can access by typing /tutorial, this page has less text but more explanations.

Basics

If you're not in the lobby, type /home to go there. If you're not on the TNT Wars server you might find it helpful to get on and make sure that you spawn there.

The lobby has the centre where you start, and four pathways to a green, blue, red and purple portal. The green portal will take you to the tutorial, the blue and red portals will send you to the battlefield as a player on the respective team, and the purple will do the same, except place you on the team with the fewest players. If both teams have the same number of players, you'll join a random team. If you're not sure which team to join, enter the purple portal.

Hold on a second! First we need to get a TNT into our bar at the bottom. Press B and select the TNT block.

TNT will blow up 3 seconds after you place it, and you can only have one active at any given time. If your enemies are in the explosion when the TNT detonates, they will be killed and you'll be given points. Be careful, because your own TNT can kill you!

When you kill someone, you'll be given ten points. Using these ten points you can then purchase other weapons from the /store (to see the list) by using /buy # weapon. If you're confused about a weapon, you can type /itemhelp weapon where weapon is the name of the weapon. You can also look at our Weapons page.

Commands

We have a variety of commands that will help you manage yourself, the game, and make your experience fun!

The most basic one is /score. This will check how many players are on each team, what each teams score is and how much time is left in the game. You'll also be able to see your kills and deaths that round.

We also have /who, which shows you your stats including kill-death ratio, rounds won and lost, your total time online and other cool stuff. You can see other people's stats as well! Just use /who name, where name is the person's name.

You might find yourself in a jam about how a weapon works. Don't worry! We have a command to do that. It's /itemhelp weapon. We referred to it above but just to keep it nice and safe in your mind, here it is again!

Need to know how many points you are to make a purchase from the store? Type /points! It'll tell you how many points you've got to spend!

If you've bought items and want to see how much you have left in your inventory, you need to type just that! /inv will show you how many of your items are in your inventory.

You want to get rid of something you brought? Too many pistols? No problem, you can just type /sell # weapon and you'll get all of your points back!

If you want to know any more commands, because we have about 30 of them available to your rank, just visit the Commands page!

Rules

If you've been playing for a while without knowing the rules, shame on you! If you break any of the rules, you'll be rewarded with either a verbal warning, an infraction or a kick. Get too many warnings and you'll end up being banned and have to go through the process of appealing for your ban. This usually involves a period of time where you and anybody else using your connection will not be allowed to enter the server, so that you can consider what you've done wrong.

What are the rules? I'm glad you asked that. They're available for viewing ingame by typing /rules, or on our Rules page. Familiarize yourself with them and we will like you!

Ranks

If you've played on this server for a while, then you might be looking forward to getting a new rank to differentiate yourself from the common player. Well, unfortunately, we don't have any other ranks except staff ranks.

Staff ranks are a little different to your player rank. They get to kick, warn, and to change peoples' teams. Their duties are to help the community and enforce the rules if there happens to be no higher staff member on (such as an operator).

If you want to help our community thrive, it's not as easy as just asking for a promotion ingame. First, you need to have played for at least 16 hours and been with us for at least a month. Throughout that time you'll want to help people, answer questions, suggest people to go to the tutorial and in general, mini-mod (without going over the top). By the end of the month you should have the staff team liking your attitude.

The next step is to get one of our operators or above to give you a reference, which is basically saying 'I like you and I want you on the staff team'. Once you've got that you need to register an account at www.blocktopia.net/forum and fill in the application form under the TNT Wars section. It's a Google document and external to the forums, if you're confused.

When you've done that and you've met the criteria, such as playtime and an operator reference, the staff will then vote on your application to becoming a trusted. You can get a +1, 0, or -1 from each staff member. If you get +5 it's likely you're going to get promoted to a Trusted, and if it's not you are likely going to be asked to reapply after a period of time has elapsed. If thats the case, improve on the feedback we've provided!

So, you may be wondering where the 'operator' rank comes in. If KingSam likes you as a trusted and wants you to take on even more duties and responsibilities, he'll bring you up to an operator rank on a, most likely, Friday evening. If you're even more exemplary, you might get promoted to Veteran Operator and then I don't know why you're reading this for further knowledge!

Conclusion

So, to sum it all up (and for tl;dr'ers)

  • Follow the rules
  • Kill people with TNT
  • Help out where you can for promotions
  • Type /cmdlist ingame to see all your commands.

We hope you've taken something valuable away from this text-based tutorial, and that you'll put it to good use in the future!

Good luck in TNT Wars!

~ The Staff
